What is the Dashboard for Firebase?
The Dashboard section of your Firebase console provides you insight of key analytics of your app.
Many of the dashlets containing main analytics displayed on the Dashboard include links to a detailed summary of that particular analytic.
You have the ability to filter the default data results on your Dashboard using the ‘Filters’ option. From the top of your Dashboard, select the ‘Add Filter’ button. This will open a box that allows you to choose from the Properties sections, values and displays filters currently selected. When you have selected the filter that best fits your needs, select ‘Apply’ and the Dashboard will refresh with the filtered results.
The default date range for the data from your dashboard is the last 28 days. To update these dates, select the dropdown caret from the calendar icon at the top of the Dashboard. This will allow you to select the time frame, or create a custom range, that best suits your needs.
You can also export the data from the Dashboard into a CSV file. Click on the ellipsis dots next to the current date range and select the ‘Download CSV’ option.
Firebase Console Dashboard - By the Numbers
The Firebase console Dashboard contains dashlet cards that display graphs and data regarding your app.
- Active Users: Compares multiple time frames to see how much of an increase or decrease there has been over time.
- Monthly (28-day), Weekly (7-day), and Daily (1-day).
- An Active User is a person who engaged with the first screen on the app.
- Users Active in Last 30 Minutes: Shows the number of people that were using your app in the last 30 minutes.
- Active Users per minute during the last 30 minutes.
- Top Conversion Events during the last 30 minutes.
- Top Conversion Events: The top conversion events overall and by daily totals for the date range listed.
- Daily User Engagement: Shows the average engagement per user for the date range listed.
- Also shows the overall percentage increase or decrease from the previous date range.
- The top screens are listed, with the percentage of total engagement of users for the date range and average time users spend on those screens for the date range listed.
- Total Revenue: Only relevant to paid apps.
- Crash-Free Users: Shows the percentage of users who did not experience a crash during the date range listed. Lists data for both Android and iOS users.
- App-Version Adoption: The percent of active users for each app (Android and iOS versions) during the date range listed.
- The table shows the different app versions by number and their status.
- When clicking on an individual app version, you are taken to the ‘Latest Release’ tab, showing the percent of active users in graph format.
- The ‘Latest Release’ page also has data from the following:
- StreamView: Amount of users and crashes in the last 30 minutes.
- Release: Percent of active users and how long each user is in the app.
- Crash Details: Percent of users who did not experience a crash and the amount of crashes per 10,000 user sessions in the app.
- Acquisition: The number of times the app was opened for the first time and the lifetime value of the users who opened the app.
- Displays the top seven ad networks, or methods in which users are opening the app for the first time.
- Retention Cohorts: A cohort is a set of users that start using the app in the same time frame (day, week, etc.)
- The graph has cohorts mapped out by each week, with the most recent week listed at the bottom of the graph.
- The darker the boxes are shaded, the more user retention there was for that week.
- Hovering your cursor over the individual boxes will show you the week’s date range, the number of users in that cohort, and the percentage of users in the cohort that were retained.
- Audience: The tabs at the top of the ‘Audience’ box breaks down your users by their location while using the app, devices they used to download the app, the users’ demographic information, and the interests of the users.
- Lists the name of the county/region where the user is opening the app.
- Shows the number of sessions, or times each user opens and interacts with the app.
- Gives the percentage of total users listed by county/region.
- Under the Model category, it lists the top three device models using the app (plus all other devices listed as ‘other’) and gives the percentage of total users for each device.
- Under the OS (operating system) version category, it lists the top three OS versions using the app (plus all other devices listed as ‘other’) and gives the percentage of total users for each OS version.
- The graph on the left shows the percentage of male and female app users
- Below the percentage of female and male users is the percentage increase or decrease of these users compared to the previous date range.
- The bar graph on the right shows the percentage of male and female app users broken down further by age group.
- Lists the percentage of total users that are interested in each category or topic.
- The interests information for the users is gathered by Google using all of their different digital companies and products.
- Platform Breakdown: Shows the percentage of users from each mobile platform
- iOS (Apple) and Android (Google)
- By clicking on the icons in the top right corner of the box, you can switch between a graph view and a list view.
