Account Set Up

Account Information Review

Act-On allows you to configure settings for individual user-profiles and your organization’s account. These settings are essential because this information populates your default email footers.

Your assigned Simpleview Marketing Automation Specialist will have configured your organization’s account profile; however, you must check these settings for accuracy.

User Profile

Click your name in the upper right corner of the product header and select Profile.

Enter your First Name, Last Name, Title, Phone Number, Mobile Number, and Fax Number in the fields provided.

Choose the appropriate Time Zone for your account.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Update Now.’ 

Organization

The Organization tab under Profile is where you verify and update your Company Name if needed.

The Company Name is essential as Act-On uses this in default footers and building content. Additionally, this value ensures your emails comply with digital privacy acts. Please contact your assigned Simpleview Marketing Automation Specialist if you have any questions.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Update Now.’ 

Addresses

The Addresses tab under Profile is where you verify and update your Default Account Address if needed.

The Default Account Address is essential as Act-On uses this in default footers and building content. Additionally, this value ensures your emails comply with digital privacy acts. Please contact your assigned Simpleview Marketing Automation Specialist if you have any questions.

To edit the Default Company Name, click the pencil icon next to the address showing.

Based on your organization’s preferences, update the Change Default Address fields.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Save.’ 

Adding Users

Your Act-On account allows for a specific number of Marketing Users. If you have questions about the number of licensed Marketing Users available in your Act-On account, please contact your assigned Simpleview Marketing Automation Specialist. 

Marketing Users

To add a new Marketing User, go to Settings in your left-hand navigation and click Users.

Click ‘Add Marketing User’ and enter the new user's information into the fields provided.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Add User.’

Act-On will send the new user a validation email. The user must click the link provided in the validation email to receive a temporary password and log in to Act-On for the first time.

Tip:

Act-On validation emails may land in your Spam folder. Be sure to check that folder and mark the email as not Spam.

Privileges

Your Act-On account allows admin users to set up privileges for Marketing Users. These privileges included creating and deleting marketing lists and content, launching emails, and managing emails.

Your assigned Simpleview Marketing Automation Specialist will have set up admin users privileges for your organization's primary point of contact. If you have any questions, please contact your Specialist.

Sales Users

To add a new Sales User, go to Settings in your left-hand navigation, click Users, and click the Sales Users tab.

Click ‘Add ‘Sales Portal’ User’ and enter the new user's information into the fields provided.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Add User.’

Act-On will send the new user a validation email. The user must click the link provided in the validation email to receive a temporary password and log in to Act-On for the first time.

Adding From: Address

From addresses allow you to select the sender name that displays in your recipient's inbox. By default, sent messages show the logged-in user as the sender. Additionally, you can send emails on behalf of other users in your organization or from a marketing or sales alias.

Note:

To send emails from Act-On, you will need to set up from addresses. All emails entered has a from addresses must be associated with an active inbox that can receive validation emails.

To add a new from address, go to Settings in your left-hand navigation, click Users, and click the From: Address tab.

Click ‘Add From: Address User’ and enter the new user's information into the fields provided.

To finalize all your changes, select ‘Add Now.’ Or select ‘Cancel.’

Act-On will send a verification email to the associated inbox with the next steps to be completed.

Tip:

Act-On validation emails may land in your Spam folder. Be sure to check that folder and mark the email as not Spam.

Act-On allows administrators to create from addresses associated with secondary domains. If your organization intends to send emails from secondary domains,  follow the setup instructions provided by Act-On.
